Abstract
In this report a double blind randomized three-way crossover evaluation of general symptoms and cognitive functions with or without exposure to GSM and UMTS-like fields in subjects presenting with complaints subjectively attributed to GSM fields is presented. From our research it is concluded that our hypotheses to find no relation between presence of RF-fields and the measured parameters is rejected. We have found statistically significant relation between UMTS-like fields with a field strength of 1 V/m and an effect on the Well Being. Further, from the cognitive tasks, it is observed that a number of significant effects is found. Each exposure frequency is associated with changes in some tasks or parameters, while other frequencies are not. In our study, it is shown that the thermal effects are negligible and therefore, an explanation based on thermal effects seems highly unlikely for effects on the cognitive parameters. Without any question, the results justfiy more scientific research into this area.

19.02.2006
REFLEX (Risk Evaluation of Potential Environmental Hazards from Low Energy Electromagnetic Field (EMF) Exposure Using Sensitive in vitro Methods) was a 3-year joint research project within the 5th EU Framework Program. Among the 12 participating research groups, the IT'IS Foundation/ETH was responsible for providing the exposures (signal definitions, exposure setups and technical quality assurance) of all subprojects. Direct comparison of the results was possible between the participants by maintaining common, strictly controlled exposure conditions. REFLEX reported several genotoxic effects as well as effects on gene expression.

The IT'IS Foundation is committed to conducting replications and extensions with the utmost scientific scrutiny in the shortest possible time. Experiments are currently being conducted at the BioCenter in Basel, the Department of Human Biology and Genetics in Kaiserslautern and the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority.

11 000 citizen initiatives already joined together nationwide in order to fight against the rapid extending of the cellular phone network installations in Germany. Already now, the day has over 100 million cellphone conversation minutes in Germany so far. However how big are the dangers real? Dr. Günter Baumgart spoke for BIO with the medical physicist Dr. von Klitzing.

file icon 500 uW/m2 verhoogt stress in lichaam meetbaar
21.04.2007
